With Indy’s car sickness now mostly under control, maintaining his comfort in the car is a top priority. To keep him accustomed to the vehicle’s motion, we’re making an effort to venture out more frequently to dog-friendly destinations. Although we’ve had a small hiccup recently due to a windier road choice, Indy’s resilience is admirable, and Mum feels a bit guilty about that xx.

Exploring Queensland’s Vast Dog-Friendly Locales: Queensland, the second-largest state in Australia, boasts an extensive coastline stretching nearly 7,000 kilometers. As a result, discovering fantastic dog-friendly destinations can be quite a challenge, often relying on word-of-mouth recommendations.

Sandgate: A Beloved Canine Haven: For Indy and Amber, a day at Sandgate is an absolute delight. As we cruise down Flinders Parade, the car window descends, and two curious Pappy noses eagerly soak in the refreshing bay breeze. Sandgate, along with its neighboring Brighton and Shorncliffe areas, is undeniably one of the most dog-friendly locales around. Residents and visitors alike seem to be either proud dog owners or at the very least dog-friendly. Therefore, we eagerly hop in the car every other weekend and embark on a 40-minute journey to immerse ourselves in our fellow dog enthusiasts’ world.

A Surprising Encounter: During our last visit on Ekka Wednesday, an unusual event unfolded. Indy, while deciding which direction to explore first, suddenly became noticeably nervous. With a sense of impending doom, he slowly retreated and sought refuge behind my legs. We were left puzzled, but his alarmed gaze led us to the source of his unease – a colossal Tibetan Mastiff! The silent, determined approach of this gentle giant was met with mixed reactions: Indy’s skepticism and Amber’s unrestrained enthusiasm. While Indy was resolute in keeping his distance, Amber couldn’t contain her excitement, performing a joyous dance and leaping up to shower the “lion dog” with affection. Cutest moment ever – a solid 110% on the cute scale!

Enjoying a Day on the Bay: Following this intriguing encounter, which sadly went undocumented in photos, we continued our day by the bay. After a leisurely walk and indulging in the most delectable calamari and chips from Dave at the Sandgate Fishmonger, it was time to head back home. As we merged onto the highway, our two little companions were already peacefully curled up and sound asleep, content from their adventures.
